During one of my many Pinterest browsing
sessions I came across this cute pilot hat on Sarah's blog. As I had expected,
my stepsister found it absolutely adorable and I decided to make this hat in
blue, to fit with his jacket.
Materials used
4,0 crochet hook
Hema medium 100% acrylic wool in dark blue, lighter blue and white.

Making the hat
I made the hat in size ‘Toddler’, however
it turned out not to fit him. I would advise to measure first (which seems so obvious
now) and make later. I later made it in a larger size after getting his mother
to measure his head and hopefully this one will fit (have not had the chance to
give it yet).

I then continued with the goggles, which I
did in the lighter blue. The white circles on the goggles are made using
surface crochet, and again a white border was made using the white wool as
well. Here I did choose a single row.
Goggles |
I pinned the goggles to the hat and
subsequently used slip stitches to attach them to the hat. The loose ends I
tucked away using my crochet hook.

For the second hat I made (not in these pictures) I also created a band for the goggles which
I also attached with slip stitches, following a line of double crochet to make
sure it went on in a straight line.
